We’re delighted to have you join us this summer for our Summer Reading Club! This year’s theme is Libraries Rock!
Summer Reading Club begins on Monday, June 4 and ends on Saturday, August 4. The last day to register for the Summer Reading Club is July 21; the last day to submit reading logs for prizes is August 4.
How does the Summer Reading Club work?
The Summer Reading Club is open to children ages 2 to 12 years. Each family must have a library card to register. Join one of two groups:
- The Read-To-Me Club
Ages 2 to 6 years
This club is designed for children who have not yet learned to read. Parents track the time someone reads to the child on a time log. Time logs are available at registration. The reader can be a mom, dad, grandparent, sibling or babysitter. Time spent listening to audio books also counts.
- The Reading Club
Ages 6 to 12 years
This club is designed for children learning to read and already reading. Children track time spent reading on a time log given out at registration. Any time spent reading or being read to counts! Children can read alone or to a parent or sibling, friend or pet! Audio books count as well.
Children set their own reading pace and goals. For every 15 minutes the child reads or is read to, the child receives one ticket. Children may then use their tickets to choose prizes at the Summer Reading Club Store.
Children keep track of their reading time on a time log, which is distributed at registration. Children should color or check off one star shape for every 15 minutes of reading. When children bring their time logs back to the library, they will receive one ticket for each star colored or checked off.
